Why We Started Tides to Peaks

Tides to Peaks didn’t start with a logo or a business plan. It started with conversations.

I was shooting large weddings and getting pulled into more elopements. I wasn’t burned out. I didn’t hate big weddings. But I could tell things were shifting. Couples didn’t want the production. They wanted something smaller and more personal.

Around the same time, Brooke had retired from her first career and was studying to become a Pilates instructor. We were both thinking about what we wanted the next chapter to look like — not just professionally, but in how we live.

We live on the coast. Her family is in Colorado. Instead of building something huge just to manage it, we started talking about building something that made sense for us — something we could run ourselves, in places we actually care about.

That’s where Tides to Peaks came from.

What We’re Not Trying to Be

We’re not trying to build a cookie-cutter elopement company.

Some couples want to keep it simple. Show up, say their vows, and start celebrating. That matters — and we make that easy.

Brooke is involved in planning every elopement we take on. From the ceremony flow to the small details that make it feel personal, she helps shape the experience so it never feels rushed or generic.

From there, couples decide how much support they want. Some keep it centered around the ceremony. Others have Brooke step in further — helping with reservations, timing, guest logistics, or building out an entire weekend through her concierge work.

It’s not about adding layers. It’s about giving you space to make it your own.

Where This Is Headed

Right now, we’re building Tides to Peaks around where we live — the Southern California coast. These are beaches we spend time on, towns we know, and places that mean something to us.

Colorado is part of the picture too. That’s where Brooke’s family is, and the mountains matter to us the same way the ocean does.

We’re not trying to build something huge. We want to stay hands-on and keep it personal — whether we’re on the coast or in the mountains.

That’s the direction.

If you’re considering a coastal elopement, you can explore our San Clemente and Dana Point pages to get a better feel for what we offer. And if you’re curious how Brooke’s concierge support works, we share more about that here as well.
